Historický hřbitov a jeho management, pozice a vnímání očima mezinárodních dokumentů, chart a kodexů správné praxe

Abstract

Paper examines historical cemeteries and their perception, protection, and management in the context of national laws and international documents, charters, and codes of practice. After an introductory explanation of the diff erences between English and Czech terminology used in international documents, which oft en diff er signifi cantly from the meanings of their Czech equivalents, the article focuses on the legislation protecting historical cemeteries in selected countries, as well as their specifi cs and strengths. The article further analyses international documents, focusing on parts that can be applied to the specifi c issue of historical cemeteries. It also explores possible defi nitions of cemeteries as historical monuments and their integration into the surrounding environment and urban fabric. Other analysed topics include the significance of authenticity and cultural identity, as well as issues related to the restoration, protection, and maintenance of funerary monuments.
