Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The author also submits a Cover Letter, Title Page and corresponding EQUATOR Network Checklist, together with the manuscript. (The author of an editorial submits only one document that contains the title, the full name, i.e., first name, last name, ORCID ID, the author’s address, including email address and telephone number.)


  • The manuscript contains an abstract (maximum 250 words) in Czech / Slovak and English languages (not required for editorials and letters to the editor).
  • The manuscript contains keywords (maximum 10 words) in Czech / Slovak and English (not required for editorials and letters to the editor).
  • The manuscript contains a list of references in accordance with the citation style of APA 7th Edition, corresponding to the guidelines for authors. References are cited in the text in the order they appear.
  • If the manuscript contains appendices (figures, tables, etc.), the labels in the APA 7th edition citation standard are given for them and are placed after the list of references, see Guidelines for authors.
  • The manuscript complies with adequate publication standards - see Guidelines for Authors.
  • The manuscript is in Microsoft Word format, other files (Cover Letter, Title Page, and corresponding EQUATOR Network Checklis) can be in PDF format.
  • The manuscript contains only one file, including all tables, figures, etc. If figures contain images requiring high-resolution (e.g., photographs), they are submitted as separate files, in acceptable formats - see Guidelines for Authors.
  • All identifying information—including author names, institutional affiliations, acknowledgments, and any explicit references to the authors’ institutions— is included only on the title page. No identifying details appear in the main manuscript file. (This does not concern editorials and letters to the editor.)

Primary research

The journal publishes primary and original research that is consistent with the journal´s aims and focus. The manuscript shall be written in accordance with the accepted standards for publication and with the Author Guidelines.

Review articles

The journal publishes scoping review/narrative review articles based on a specific research question. The article shall address the research literature and include the related critical analysis. The paper shall be written in accordance with accepted standards for publication and with the Author Guidelines.

Letter to the Editors

The aim of the letter is to stimulate an academic debate. Readers may submit letters that comment on the recently published articles, that present a new discussion topic with a clear link to the journal's aim and focus, or that provide an abbreviated discussion of research findings for which full text submission is inappropriate. For a letter, there is a limit of no more than ten sources in the reference list.
