Abstract

Objective: The aim was to identify validated tools used to assess the quality of working life and job satisfaction among healthcare professionals and to describe related risk and protective factors. Design: A scoping review: Methods: The review included cross-sectional, descriptive, correlational, case, and case-control studies published in English between 2022 and June 2024 and available in full text. Data were retrieved from the PubMed, Scopus and Web of Science databases. Study selection, data extraction, and synthesis were conducted in accordance with the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic reviews and Meta-Analyses extension for Scoping Review. Results: Following the application of the eligibility criteria, 26 studies from 18 countries were included in the results section. The most frequently used tools for assessing quality of work life were Professional Quality of Life Scale (PROQoL-5) and the Work-Related Quality of Life Scale (WRQoL), both demonstrating high reliability (Cronbach’s alpha > 0,8) and confirmed validity in the European context. Risk factors for reduced job
satisfaction included female gender, age under 30 years, and shift work. Protective factors included leadership support, work-life balance, opportunities for further education, and adequate financial remuneration. Conclusion: The result of this study highlights the need for standardization of assessment tools and the implementation of targeted interventions to improve working conditions for healthcare professionals, which may positively influence their job satisfaction and quality of life.
